CALL TO ACTION: Help Build ATU Canada’s Transit Worker Photo Archive
Transit workers have shaped every community in this country, and too much of that history sits in old albums, lockers, garages, and memories. It’s time to bring it all together.
ATU Canada is launching a national photo callout for all locals, executive members, rank-and-file members, and retirees. We’re collecting images that capture the real story of transit work across generations.
Show us your photos:
Old buses. Vintage streetcars. Early diesel fleets. Snowed-in yards. Breakroom gatherings. First days on the job. Retiree snapshots. Crews that carried each other through long shifts.
If it reflects the life and history of transit workers, we want it.
How to take part:
• Share your photo on social media with #ATUCanadaHistory and tag @ATUCanada
• Or email high-resolution photos to media@atucanada.ca
• Include a short description: who’s in the photo, where it was taken, and roughly when
Recognition: Monthly Draws & Local Participation
Every submission becomes part of ATU Canada’s growing history archive. Each month, we’ll randomly select entries for small prizes and feature those members across our national platforms.
Locals are encouraged to take this on as a collective project. The local with the highest number of qualifying submissions will receive special recognition at ATU Canada’s next national gathering.
Monthly Challenge Deadlines
This project runs as a monthly challenge, with rolling deadlines on the 21st of every month.
• The first challenge period closes December 21
• Each following month closes on the 21st as well
• All submissions received by each month’s deadline are entered into that month’s draw
Don’t wait. Talk to retirees, visit the yard, dig through old albums, and help us preserve our story.
This is our history. Let’s collect it, protect it, and make sure future generations know who built transit in this country.
Share your photos. Tag your coworkers. Pass it on.
