Our union is dedicated to protecting transit workers' rights at all levels of government and defending public transit as a fundamental mobility right for all Canadians. We oppose government efforts to privatize transit for profit and advocate for legislative protections that safeguard workers' rights, and human rights. Through media engagement and public awareness campaigns, we empower both our members and the general public to stand against policies that threaten our access to safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable transit.

Lobbying

ATU Canada actively lobbies policymakers at all levels of government to protect transit workers’ rights and jobs, including the safety of both transit workers and passengers. We advocate for Criminal Code amendments and a national transit strategy with dedicated operational funding to ensure safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable transit for all Canadians. With assaults on transit systems on the rise, we remain committed to pushing for stronger safety protections.
