Rob Cormier

Rob Cormier began his career in public transit as an operator and ATU member in 1998, serving in that role for 22 years before being elected President of ATU Local 1587 in Toronto.

His leadership journey started in 2006 when he stepped up as a shop steward, a role he held for 14 years. His passion for engaging with and helping members inspired him to pursue the position, ultimately leading him to run for and win the presidency.

Rob has served as President of ATU Local 1587 since September 2020, having won the election as the local emerged from trusteeship. His dedication to member advocacy and union leadership was further recognized in 2024 when he was elected to also serve as an Executive Board member of ATU Canada.
