Exec. Board Member for Eastern Canada

Jack Jackson

Local 1572 – Mississauga, ON

Jack Jackson serves as the President and Business Agent of ATU Local 1572, representing transit workers in Mississauga and Milton who operate, maintain, and repair their respective transit systems. With over two decades of dedication to the labour movement, Jack has been a champion for workers’ rights to safe and healthy workplaces. His commitment extends beyond the local level—he also serves as an Executive Board member of ATU Canada, representing approximately 35,000 transit workers nationwide. In 2024, Jack was re-elected to a third term on the Board, reinforcing his dedication to driving positive change across all workplaces.

Through grassroots activism and his leadership at the national level, Jack engages in political advocacy at all three levels of government. This includes meeting with Members of Parliament to push for stronger benefits and legislation to protect transit workers from workplace assaults. His passion for advocacy is deeply personal—shaped by watching his mother work tirelessly in a factory despite illness. This experience instilled in him a lifelong mission: to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. For Jack, workplace safety is not a privilege but a fundamental right, and he will not rest until workplaces are safe and healthy so every worker can go home to their loved ones.
