Lethbridge Council Decision To Privatize School Bus Division A Bad Choice: Tell The Mayor!

The City of Lethbridge, the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division, and Lethbridge School Division school boards have been in partnership to provide school bus transportation over the last 50 years.

In November, City Council decided to sever this system, citing its desire to eliminate insurance risk for the City.

This decision was made without any public consultation. It appears no thought was given to how this decision would impact students and families, especially those in most need – only the city’s bottom line.

Contracting this service to for-profit, private busing provider will cost more taxpayer dollars. Families will ultimately be forced to bear the brunt of these additional expenses.

60 bus operators will be forced to seek alternative employment to make a living in our city.

Tell Mayor Chris Spearman and City Council to reconsider this decision!
